Dear baby Scarlett Jade Berlin

I couldn't wait, I had to say something about my new little niece. She is just the sweetest, most beautiful baby girl princess I have ever laid eyes on! I have only seen her picture, but I love her so much! My eyes tear up when I see her, such a sweet, innocent little baby. Well, at least I know I have some cute baby genes floating around so when I have one I don't have to worry about people saying she's "breathtaking". Beau and Tiffany - good job! Conceived during Hurricane Wilma and born in Mexican paradise, it will be a great story to tell her when she gets older. When you catch her sneaking out her second story bedroom window you can lay the guilt trip "We almost died in a hurricane the night you were conceived, we don't need you risking life and limb climbing out windows and meeting those ragamuffin friends of yours!!". I only hope she gives you half as much trouble as Beau gave Mom and Dad. Hee hee. Just remember to learn from the sins of your mothers/fathers, not repeat them. My advice for parenting (as if I know anything about the subject):

1. Have fun! - Teach her how to sing, dance, goof around and most importantly, laugh!
2. Teach her something new every day.
3. Use discipline wisely. I know kids need to be disciplined, but I sure as heck can't tell you how!
4. Teach her the value of a dollar. Teach her how money is made (by hard work), and teach her to save half of everything she makes.
5. Give her lots of love and affection and say "I love you" lots!!!

Duhhh, I know you guys won't have any problem doing these things, and I am sure there are a million other things you should do as new parents, but like I said, I am just talking out of my butt anyway.
I love you wittle baby Scarlet!
Love, Aunt Wina

Katrina's new bench

My porch has a new bench! Rudy built me this beautiful George Nelson inspired bench. Aaron and Dad aren't the only ones who can build stuff! George Nelson is a mid-century modern furniture designer - his stuff is sold under the Herman Miller name. It is just made of pine, stained a walnut color. I just needed something to dress up the empty porch - something to put plants on and fill the space. Now I have too much stuff on my porch! Whoopee!

Hey family - let's blog!

I created this blog so we can blog each other! We can invite whoever we want to post. Let's use it as a way to keep in touch, share stories, photos, etc. It's easy, ok? I swear. You can do it! Don't be lazy, if we all choose to live in different parts of the world so we don't have to deal with each other on a daily basis, the least we can do is talk every once in a while. Sheesh. I love you guys!! Love, Katrina.
P.S. Oh, i will show you how to do it so stop whining!
